Engaged Employees

Our employees are committed to their local communities, leveraging their expertise and time to have a remarkable impact

Making possibilities real in the community

Annual hamper day

At AbbVie we care about social causes as well as the health of our patients. We encourage engagement in the communities where we live and work, and that’s why each June is dedicated to the Month of Possibilities. In 2020 we co-ordinated a hamper packing day that saw our team pack 600 hampers of essential food and toiletry items. For many households, it is a difficult decision to choose between paying for rent or groceries. The hampers have since been donated to key charity partners, Food Bank NSW/ACT, The Salvation Army and Ronald McDonald House Sydney.

Matched fundraising

We are a company made up of passionate people. It’s why we care about supporting the causes that are close to the hearts of our employees. our Employee Donation Matching program means that we support employee fundraising, dollar for dollar.

Throughout the year we participated in fundraising activities identified by the AbbVie team that saw us donate to WIRES and the Red Cross for bushfire relief, raise money for social support for LBTQIA+ youth, run the City2Surf in support of children’s charity Barnardo’s, give to the homeless through Rough Edges, sell cookies for Assistance Dogs Australia, run and walk more than 400kms for prostate cancer, participate in the Live Fearless challenge for people living with inflammatory bowel disease, fundraise for Australians with Parkinson’s disease and support people living with mental illness through Beyond Blue.

Volunteering

Every year we focus on volunteering throughout June as our annual Month of Possibilities. We run activities for employees to donate their time in the community and within the office.

But volunteering isn’t confined to June. Each AbbVie employee is given two volunteering days a year to enable them to donate their time to charitable causes they care about most.
